Embodying Our Feminine & Masculine Energies Through the Kabbalistic Tree of Life
Video Dialogue With Banafsheh Sayyad and Rabbi Jeff Foust
"In this video featuring Banafsheh and Rabbi Jeff Foust, longtime student and teacher of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, you’ll be immersed in the mysteries of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life in an inspiring and engaging way. Rabbi Jeff offers mystical insight, philosophy, and history as context to better understand the Tree of Life — and shares a profound experiential exercise in how to embody it." Kabbalistic Tu B'Shevat Seder
One of my specialities is leading an annual Tu B'Shevat Seder. The Seder celebrates the Jewish New Year of Trees and of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It's modeled on an original seder develped by the same 16th Century mystics who were part of the Lurianic Kabbalah Movement.
For the seder we creatively move through the Kabbalistic 4 worlds (doing, feeling, knowing, being) by eating nuts and fruit connected with each world (hard outer shells for material doing, a pit for the world of feeling, edible seeds for the world of knowing, and no-thing for the world of being); we also share chanting, sharing stories and personal reflections, moving/dancing, and meditating as part of our journey, and then at the end we'll do some sharing of what we can bring back into the world to help create more harmonious relationships in the world, including with our environment. As part of moving through the cycle of seasons, we'll also follow the Lurianic Mystics in drinking 4 cups of wine or grape juice beginning with all white (for the rains of winter in Israel and the snow in Boston) and gradually adding more red till we get to all red for the 4th cup (for the strong hot sun in Israel at the end of summer and early fall).
Workshop on Embodied Spirituality:
Embodying the Kabbalistic Tree of Life Through Meditation and Movement
This workshop helps you connect with your own body, heart, mind, and spirit through the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Through guided visualization and self-directed movement, you'll first relax yourself into openness to Mekor HaHayyim (Hebrew for Source of Life) and then be guided step by step into experiencing in your body the 10 Sefirot/Energy Centers of the Tree, and the balancing of the energies between them. In so doing you'll align yourself with Source, open your heart and personal creativity, and tap into the deep energies of your body and your mind, emotions and spirit.
Leading Global Satsang Teleconference
I was asked to lead the Jewish session for a monthly series of life enhancing spiritual teachings from the world's religions and spiritual practices. The sessions are being hosted by Steve Farrell of Humanity's Team and by Reverend Anakha Coman.
The focus for this session is Teshuvah/Back to the Source.
We go to the inner meaning of Jewish New Year Preparations where opening to loving relationship becomes the key to our Teshuvah/Realignment/Repentence. I include one meditation on this, and another on the Blowing of the Shofar. As the long even Tekiah sound of the Shofar washes over you, you're invited to feel our underlying at-onement with G!D and G!D's love, which in turn can hold us and help us heal as we also open ourselves to the broken and incomplete places in our lives, reflected in the broken and staccato sounds of the Shevarim and Teruah Shofar sounds . The session also includes some very interesting questions and discussion with spiritual seekers from Jewish and many other traditions. At the very end I'm joined by several of my colleagues from the Jewish Chaplaincy Council of Massachusetts in chanting Rafael Simkha Kahn's and Shlomo Carlebach's "Return Again".
